“Tackling childhood obesity should be at the heart of any health strategy. We have been clear in our support for the soft drinks industry levy and the sugar reduction programme – and firmly believe that if we really want to protect this and future generations, the next Government must close existing loopholes to protect children from junk food adverts, including during popular family shows before 9pm. The UK is in the grips of an obesity epidemic, and we want to see all parties demonstrate a commitment to making it a thing of the past.”
